What age is it suitable for? It's suitable from birth and can be used right up until your child outgrows their travel cot.
Will it help my child sleep when we’re away from home? The science behind SnoozeShade is all about encouraging deep and restful sleep. Our unique fabric creates a comfortingly dark space – even if you have a light on in the room – which boosts melatonin (the sleepy hormone) and helps children drift off. When they naturally stir between sleep cycles, the distraction-blurring mesh prevents them from latching on to visual stimuli (such as another family member moving in the room) that may cause them to wake up fully.
SnoozeShade fabric also offers protection from insects like mosquitoes, making it ideal for the summer months and trips abroad. SnoozeShade for Travel Cots is used in the childcare facilities of all Mark Warner European holiday resorts.
What are the windows for? SnoozeShade for Travel Cots features two single-layer mesh windows (one at either side), complete with adjustable blackout flaps. You can choose to cover both windows completely for maximum darkness, or roll up one or both of the outer flaps and secure them with our baby-safe poppers. This allows you to adjust the light levels inside the cot to suit your child.
What is the top panel for? When fully open, the top panel creates a large opening for lifting your child in and out of their travel cot. It features a two-way zip that can be closed completely for sleeping and partially opened when you want to check on your little one without letting in too much light and disturbing them. If you want to leave the top panel open, you can fold it into the integrated pocket to keep it safely tucked away.
Is SnoozeShade for Travel Cots easily portable? Yes! It packs down into a handy storage bag (free with every order) and is super lightweight, with no complicated attachments to carry with you. It weighs just 1.1kg and is small enough to pop in your suitcase without taking up much room at all.
Is it machine washable? Of course – it was invented by a mum! All SnoozeShades are machine washable at 30° and can be tumble dried on low heat.
How does it attach to my travel cot? SnoozeShade for Travel Cots is fast and effortless to fit. Here are our top tips:
1. Throw it over your travel cot, ensuring the section with the top panel is covering the top of your cot.
2. Pull it down around all sides of the frame.
3. Attach the stretchy straps around the feet or wheels of your travel cot. Make sure the Velcro pads overlap to form a loop.

Why SnoozeShade for Travel Cots is safe to use: SnoozeShade was invented by Cara Sayer – a safety-obsessed mum who needed to help her daughter sleep soundly and stay protected from the sun while in her pushchair. SnoozeShade Original has since become the world’s favourite sun and sleep shade for pushchairs, and the SnoozeShade range has expanded to include blackout shades for car seats, twin buggies, cots and travel cots.
Our scientifically tested fabric is completely air permeable, which means air passes through it freely. If you were to hold a SnoozeShade up to your face you’d be able to breathe comfortably.
All our products are designed to exceed UK, European and US standards. Our fabric is not treated with any chemicals and every component is safe enough for a newborn, including our zips, straps and poppers (which are the only certified baby-safe poppers in the world).
